Take A Deep Breath

Standing on deck, faces stinging from the chilly sea air, searching the surface of the water for any sign of movement. A soft rising mound barely breaks the surface when, “Whaooomm!”…exhalation of enormous lungs thrust a plume of mist into the air, so close it can be felt in your chest. There are few experiences that take my breath away like sighting a humpback, except to see a child’s face light up with excitement when they see their first whale up close and personal, trembling … which has nothing to do with the cold.

Those memories flood my mind as I work with the humpback that has been carved by Steve and has made its way to my studio.
