Happy Thoughts

Stepping into the shop I pass by the sailboat I built several years ago after graduating from the Northwest School of Wooden Boat Building.

It is a constant reminder of the value of continuing education. Never stop learning.

Embedded in the cabin front is a large blue marble.

The sailboat’s name is Tootles. Tootles was one of the original Lost Boy’s. In the novel Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie. Specifically, Tootles was the one Lost Boy who upon returning from Neverland was always mumbling that he had lost his marbles. Some people misunderstood this to mean Tootles had lost his mind. When in fact, marbles were Tootles happy thoughts.

We all need happy thoughts. I am blessed to have many. My wife. Children. Grandchildren. Parents and Siblings. These make my heart smile.  These are my marbles.

Think Happy Thoughts,

Steve
