Long Winter’s Nap

The calendar says differently but winter doesn’t truly start until February. The sunny warmth of autumn gives way to festive excitement of the holidays. Ting of glasses toasting the arrival of the new year fades into the sag of February. Sick of the dark and rising above a world that feels soggy underfoot, we reach for scratch paper and let it work its magic. Simple lines of graphite randomly fill the corners with doodles. Ideas push through the brain fog and begin to bloom. Heaters in the shop and studio are summoned to banish the cold, encouraging creative energy. A ray of sunshine calls us from a long winter’s nap.
